Mr. Murtin

Written + Illustrated by Quenzartne (comics 1-4 and 7-9), Mar (comic 5), and Alfabernardo (comic 6). 

I mainly enjoy making Mr. Murtin since it's a comic where I could just make the same 3 jokes that my friends & I laugh at. They never have to be good (and they usually aren't) but if I could get just one fella who sees it to type out keyboard spam as a way to laugh, I know that I've done good.

Secondarily, Mr. Murtin also acts as my commentary on whatever's on social media (typically the X [fka Twitter] timeline) that I find funny. For example, the Artist chapter where Murtin's son get's 56k followers out of nowhere is supposed to be a parody of the reaction and accusations of "industry plant" artists making accounts and blowing up out of nowhere in the next 2 days. For the most part though, Mr. Murtin comics have no reason to exist other than "it sounds funny in my mind."

In regard of commentary, the Son's design is supposed to be a parody on the whole almost decade-long debacle of "beanmouth" design. It always amuses me when people get into arguments about it, because I feel that in the end it doesn't matter whatsoever. Anyways, the Son is supposed to also be a freak, the type of guy to enjoy using DeviantArt. His sloppy, simple design makes me enjoy making these comics; they're easy to finish when he's in the chapter.  

The most major inspiration for Mr. Murtin is the works of Yasuji Tanioka, a gag mangaka from Japan in the 70s. His whole sex & violence comedy always gets a good laugh out of me and is another huge foundation for making Murtin the way it is. In fact, Murtin's design is based on Pusuo, the main character from Yasuji Tanioka's adult film "Yacchimae!"

To make a long story short, I make these comics for myself and my friends. They're bad, but I still love to make them. Mr. Murtin has become a main passion project for me, which is funny considering the main characters are an incredibly stupid dad, a everythingally challenged son, and a blob of semen.
